Vacation Bible School See You for High Sees Expedition Summer 2010!
Let’s get excited about Vacation Bible School! Held from 5:30 – 8:30pm for one week during the summer, each year’s program has a different theme. Attendees are placed into groups comprised of five to six children of various ages, from rising Kindergartners through rising sixth-graders. A few toddlers are also accommodated in a group of their own. If your child attends VBS with a special friend, every effort will be made to place them in the same group. Each evening begins with supper in the large social hall. Then, at 6:00pm, everyone gathers in the Sanctuary to learn catchy, danceable praise songs. The children then go off in their small groups and rotate through several unique stations such as Bible adventures, crafts, games and DVD-based discussions. Evenings end with the entire group coming together again for an opportunity to recap events, sing more songs and receive a daily challenge to put God’s word into action. The week concludes with a dessert reception which all church members, as well as parents, relative and friends of the participating children are encouraged to attend. This evening offers a unique opportunity to experience the contagious joy of young people who are sincere in their love and exuberance for God, and for doing God’s work.
There is no charge to attend OUMC Vacation Bible School. Instead, each night at dinner, there is an opportunity make a donation to our special mission offerings. Registration normally opens in mid July. The theme for 2009 was Crocodile Dock: Where Fearless Kids Shine in God's Light. Watch this web site in the spring of 2010 for more information, or contact the church office.
